The Psychology of Attraction
Not all of us were blessed with the face typically beautified in our society. Even less are blessed with a particular universal beauty- if such a thing even exists. Beauty and attraction are two related, though different things. Beauty is the mechanism through which people are attracted, but is not the only one. This paper explores the psychological basis for attraction, and will briefly touch on the sociological and biological predispositions to desirability.
Though there are many biological components of attraction the psychological portions play just as significant (or perhaps even more significant) role in desirability. Though the lines blur between the two; for example, scent is a psychological and biological stimulus in attraction.
Women perceive odors better than men do. They are a hundred times more sensitive to Exaltolide, a compound much like men's sexual musk; they can smell a mild sweat from about three feet away; and at midcycle, during ovulation, women can smell men's musk even more strongly.
