The question that I chose is based on the issue of the state within security studies. The question: "What are the limitations of focusing on the state in security studies? How should security be understood?" In this proposal, I will discuss some of the topics that will be explored within the essay to help answer the proposed question.
The subject of state security within security studies is engulfed in the ideas of terrorism, capitalism, the market economy, and hegemonic powers, and so on. These factors influence the strategies of security depending on the states' goals and interests.
There are limitations when the state becomes the sole focus within security studies. The state becomes a general entity assuming the identity of a major enterprise rather than a home to thousands of people.
