Mark Morris was born in Seattle in 1956. As a young child Morris had great musical influences from his family, although no members of his family were successful artists or musicians, they had passion. It was Bill Crittenden, Morris grandfather that had the biggest influence upon him. Acocella gives an account in her book Mark Morris of Morriss childhood and family history. Acocella tells us of Morriss Grandfather Bill Crittenden's love of dance and music, how he would attend as many Vaudeville shows as he could and then teach family and friends what he had learned.
