“To His Coy Mistress” is a formal argument by Andrew Marvell. Throughout the poem, the poet uses persuasion to make the woman he loves give her virginity to him. Although the main theme seems to be love and passion it is, in fact, how short life is and how quickly it passes by. The poet presents his argument in 3 stanzas, dividing his ideas into three parts. Each stanza represents a different stage of his argument. In the first stanza, he talks about something that would only happen if they had the time, which they do not. The author tries to tell her how much he loves her and how many things he would do for her if he had space and time enough. Furthermore, in stanza 2, he presents the other stage of his argument, which is more aggressive. Marvell intends to make her realize how little time she has left. In the last stanza, he presents a solution to this problem; this stanza is similar to an argument, in which everything comes to an end. The poet ends each stanza with a couplet, in order to emphasize the message he is trying to deliver. In stanza 1, Marvell is hypotheticall......
