A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

A Rose for Emily is a short story written by William Faulkner wrote in 1930. It is a gothic style story and is not really scary but definitely disturbing. Faulkner achieves this with the literary elements character, setting and imagery, and foreshadowing. These are the strongest elements in the story and really put the story together well. In the short story A Rose for Emily the strongest literary element would be character. It is the strongest because Emily is the central character and basically the only character the reader gets to know during the story. When we are first introduced to Miss Emily Grierson she is actually dead and the narrator is gong to her funeral. The narrator goes to explain why Emily is so interesting and why the whole town wanted to got her funeral to see the house. Emily lived with just her father and the manservant in that house while she was young, her father was very strict. He wouldn’t let any boys see Emily and he basically made her stay in the house. When her father died she fell in love with a man who had moved to the town by the name of Homer B......
