The book, The Golden Mare, the Firebird, and the Magic Ring by Ruth Sanderson, was my second book for the Gender Stereotyping Project: Childrens Literature. To be perfectly honest, I choose this book because I thought that the cover well illustrated and the colors caught my attention immediately. I now see what parents go through when in the store with their children. I will attempt to give you a brief description of the story, its main idea and lesson, characteristics that would appeal to children, and my opinion of the story. At the end, I will also include some of the changes that I would make to the book if I had the chance.
The book is based on a classical Russian folktale. The story follows a young huntsman named Alexi on his adventure to find excitement and fortune. To his surprise, he would get more than his fare share of one more than the other. A magic horse pledges his life......
