Gender Stereotyping Project: Part II The Golden Mare, the Firebird, and the Magic Ring Psychology 2314 The book, The Golden Mare, the Firebird, and the Magic Ring by Ruth Sanderson, was my second book for the Gender Stereotyping Project: Children’s Literature. To be perfectly honest, I choose this book because I thought that the cover well illustrated and the colors caught my attention immediately. I now see what parents go through when in the store with their children. I will attempt to give you a brief description of the story, its main idea and lesson, characteristics that would appeal to children, and my opinion of the story. At the end, I will also include some of the changes that I would make to the book if I had the chance. The book is based on a classical Russian folktale. The story follows a young huntsman named Alexi on his adventure to find excitement and fortune. To his surprise, he would get more than his fare share of one more than the other. A magic horse pledges his life......
