A change in the relative frequencies of alleles in the gene pool over a succession of generations is called microevolution. C. According to the Hardy-Weinberg theorem, the frequencies of alleles in a population will remain constant if sexual reproduction is the only process that affects the gene pool. The mathematical expression for such a non-evolving population is the Hardy-Weinberg equation, which states that for a two-allele locus, p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1, where p = q represent the relative frequenci......
