NEWS V. FAKE NEWS Eric Herman Ms. V. English III Honors Research Paper News has always had a large impact on the public, whether it was for an election or rallying support for a war. News in America is referred to as the fourth estate. News Networks have an obligation to present the public with legitimate current events. However news networks have their own spin, due to network heads political views, on the way their news is broadcasted. News Networks manipulate their broadcasts to match their viewpoints, such as Fox showing only positive occurrences in Iraq or CNN reporting on the violence levels in Iraq. Each news network has its own political point of view and its broadcasts are manipulated to accommodate it. A popular new trend is slowly encroaching on the old network news, Fake News. Fake news refers to humorous news shows such as “The Daily Show with Jon Stuart”, or “The Colbert Report”.
