Jerulalem 586 BCE vs New Orleans Katrina 586 BCE is an important date in the Bible because our story Lamentations revolves around that date. Lamentations are divided into 5 poems. Certain books believed that many individuals wrote lamentations, but in most cases Jeremiah, “the weeping prophet,” believed to be the author of Lamentations. Lamentations are a story about the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BCE by the Babylonian and the terrible events that took place after it. According to cliffsnotes.com, the event tested the people faith with Yahweh. Before the fall of Jerusalem, Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, has warned Judas and the people not to work ship idol, which it is again Yahweh teaching and Yahweh will bring destruction to those that did not obey his command. Jeremiah’s prophet came truth when the Babylonians, which Jeremiah believed was favor by Yahweh as a mean to punish the people of Jerusalem, conquest Jerusalem and even burn down the temple of Yahweh, Solomon.
