King Philip was born on May 1, 1527. He was born and raised in Valladolid Spain. Philip II was a Hapsburg. In 1555 Charles I and the Holy Roman Empire Charles V gave up there crowns and that is how King Philip II inherited the throne. King Philip II was the first official king of Spain. He was king from 1556 until 1598. King Philips fist wife was he is Cousin Princess Maria of Portugal. Unfortunately she died in 1545. His second wife was Nary I id England in 1544. After she died he asked her sister Elizabeth to marry him but he was declined. Philip had a son Philip III. When he married Mary Tudor Spain got a boost. He ruled a good size empire. He named the Philippians after him. He ruled Spain, Belgium, Netherland, parts of Italy and much of central and South America and parts of Florida. He traded across the Pacific Ocean between Asia and America. Unfortunately he couldnt keep this reign because he was not finically stable also because of the threats from the Muslims and because of the secession of the Netherlands.
