To understand the Concepts of Perception the understanding of monaural versus binaural and monocular versus binocular is very important. Also the understand the concepts a little better experiencing these conditions first hand is very helpful. Therefore, I will proceed in patching one eye and plugging one ear. There will also be a description of the environment as well as how well I adapted to the new changes. The physical, mental, and emotional changes in the time frame of the experience that one must undergo will be expressed.
Monaural (mon having the root of one) means that you are only able to hear completely from only one ear; weather this is simply blocked by a cotton ball or one is permanently deaf in one ear. Binaural (bi having the root of two) means the you have full use of both of your ears. Monocular is similar to the monaural concept just in that it is the use of only one eye. The eye can simply be obstructed be an eye patch or it may be permanently blind. Binocular the full use of two eyes.
