Blus Hanging
I thought Blus Hanging was a very interesting book. One of the main reasons is that it is so graphic that I almost wanted to stop reading it but at the same time I couldnt take my eyes off of this book. I strongly feel that this book has many meanings that are universal to us today.
Throughout the book it shows how these three very young children have to endure the hardships of being alone. The simple fact that their oldest sister (Ivah) has to tend to her brother (Blu) , her sister (Maisie) and even her father. This young girl who is believed to be at least 13yrs old has the carry out the duties that her mother used to do. In a way when I read this book it reminds me of what one would call the Ghettos of Chicago. I have had many friends from very bad neighborhoods that lived in a single family home, but in their case there was no love even between each other. There really wasnt a feeling of being wanted. It is sad to say that when I read this it reminded me of some of my friends and how they have had to live. This is why I said some of the meaning......
