CASE BACKGROUND
Technical Wave, Inc. (TWI) is in the process of determining the best source of funding for the construction of a new 100,000 square foot production facility in Denver, Colorado that is expected to require at least $4 million. The new facility will be used for production of a new line of testing equipment for the cable television (CATV) industry, which is predicted to continue its exploding growth in the future. Groundbreaking is expected to commence in April 1981 and construction will be completed in late November. Majority of the expenditures will occur in July, August and September. The company has the following financing options:
Option 1: short-term construction loan;
Option 2: private borrowing from an insurance company;
Option 3: public debt issue; and
Option 4: common stock issue.
