The attacks on September 11, 2001 were the worst in United States history. Most Americans remember where they were when they heard that the United States was under attack by a group of terrorists. This unfortunate tragedy was not carried out by only those 19 hijackers of the four airplanes. This extends to hundreds even thousands of Muslim extremists who wish to kill as many Americans as possible, because they hate our view of democracy and life, and they have a distorted view of Islam and the Koran. Very shortly after these attacks, it was determined that Usama bin Laden and al-Qaeda terrorists had planned this vast destruction on so many Americans. The reality of terrorism in the United States and across the world really increased over the following months as people realized how vulnerable we were. Then, commissions were formed in order to determine the flaws of our own security and determine what needed to be done to secure the country as best as possible.
