The personalities of the firefighters were reflected when they returned to the firehouse and relived the occasion through the gruesome stories that had unfolded before them. While up in the towers, the firefighters had shown immense courage with one intent: to save those stuck in the twin towers, with no regard to their own life. They were on a mission. Upon returning to the firehouse, the firefighters courageous fronts faded and disclosed a different side of their personalities. The vulnerability within the firefighters was exposed as they projected their own identities upon those of the deceased. Why am I alive, when so many others are dead? and I dont know why myself and the other guys were picked to live, ran through the minds of many, while others were tortured by wondering what they had done to earn the right to continue living. It seemed as though the firefighters almost felt guilty for still being alive, when so many others were dead.
