In todays world women or rather teenage girls are being portrayed as sex objects in the Media; especially by pop culture. Sexualisation is defined as occurring when a person's value comes only from her or his sexual appeal or behavior, to the exclusion of other characteristics, and when a person is portrayed purely as a sex object.
Research on the content and effects of television, music videos, music lyrics, magazines, films, video games and the internet was analyzed. In the results the researchers gave an example of a trainer advert that featured pop star Christina Aguilera dressed as a schoolgirl with her shirt unbuttoned, licking a lollipop. Such images and promotions of girls as sexual objects can negatively effect young girls in many ways. There are many other music artists who follow suit of Christina such as Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton and many more.
