Two summers ago I really realized how much destruction a hurricane could do. I understood how the people whose lives were ruined do to them felt. I had the opportunity to experience one while I was in South Western Florida. Hurricane Katrina his as a category three hurricane before it hastily made its way across the Gulf of Mexico to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Before I experienced this hurricane that changed the lives of thousands of people, whenever I heard about one on the news I shrugged them off. I figured that since I wasnt involved in it, I shouldnt worry about it. Looking back on that, that was a very blunt thing of me to do. The summer of 2005, I spent my vacation on an island called Marco Island that peacefully sits on the gulf. It was so hard to believe that such a tranquil place with white sand and water color painted sunsets could turn into a black hole.
