The Dirty Girls Social Club is a book that depicts America in a way that only another person of Hispanic background can understand. I completely agree with many things that this book depicted over the course of me reading this novel. I had to choose the three most prevalent things that I could relate to the most. They were how America is depicted in how America does not understand people who are different. That difference could be anything from the color of your skin, your sexuality and/or your social class. You have to be a cookie cutter child and you are avoided if you go against the concepts of the norm. I have friends that have come out of the closet like Elizabeth in the novel. Even the amount of money you have is a reason why some people do not like you or will not accept you. This is depicted by Usnavy in the novel; she loves Juan so much but yet she is really stubborn and so materialistic that she does not reveal her feelings towards him just because he is of a lower social class than her, So what that he doesnt make much money? I know deep inside Usnavy ......
