Gay Adoption: The Hardships on the Family Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

“Fam•i•ly: a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head.” This definition was taken from The Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus. Nowhere in this definition does it say anything about sexual preference. It does not say what gender you have to identify yourself with to have a family, nor does it say to have a family one needs to be involved in a heterosexual relationship. This brings me into the finer topic I’ve chosen to write my paper on: Gay Adoption. For years now there has been a huge controversy regarding the gay community. It started with homosexuality being completely taboo and illegal (which still holds true in some countries…but we’re talking the United States here). Then homosexuality became a mental disorder, once it was removed from that list, it slowly became more and more accepted in society (with the exception of hardcore Christian groups).
