Therapeutic Benefits Unique to the Group Setting: A Familial Perspective Group therapy refers to the treatment of several clients under the guidance of a therapist who encourages helpful interactions among group members (Corey, 2001, p. 210). In a group setting geared towards treatment of psychopathology or any psychological disturbance in normal functioning, treatment can be facilitated more efficiently than individual therapy. Group therapy can offer many advantages and results that individual therapy cannot.
