The first rule of kings was the Saxon kings which first began with King Egbert the King of Wessex in 802 and all the way to Harold II. There was 18 kings between King Egberts reign and King Harold IIs reign. The Saxon reign stopped in 1066 when William of Normandy conquered England when Harold was named King which is known as the Battle of Hastings. Now the information we have today about the Battle of Hastings is derived from the Bayeux Tapestry. Next in line were the Plantagenet Kings which consisted of 14 kings reigning over 300 years from Henry II- Richard III, and these 14 kings represented the Houses of Lancaster, York, and Anjou. Then in 1337 the Hundred Years War began between England and France there were 5 kings that reigned through the duration of this war, and they were Edward III, Richard II, Henry IV, Henry V, and Henry VI. The war was fought over English soil, sovereignty in France, English commercial activity in Flanders, Frances support of Scottish independence, and the claim of Edward III through his mother Isabella (daughter of Phillip) to the French c......
