Culturally we are going through a transformation. Since the introduction of electronic technology, our world of 'text' has changed dramatically. We no longer have to put pen to paper in order to produce a literacy event, we can now e-mail or text, and no longer do we regard text as something that is found exclusively in a book - literacy is now visual as well as verbal. Our world of communication has been altered so much so that there is an emergence of a new electronic language; 'text' speak. Letters can be sent across the world in seconds instead of the week or so it would take by post, web cams have made it possible to 'meet' with colleagues or family abroad, everything we once knew has been 'speeded' up; this signifies the rapidly changing culture in which we live, all due to Information & Communication Technology.
