The Czechoslovak crisis was the crisis of the Soviet model of socialism (Crozier,1988, p. 3).The Soviet Union invasion of Czechoslovakia was seen by many as a betrayal by partners within the Warsaw Pact (Velinger,2003,p.1). The Czechs were faced with the most bitter of realizations on that fateful morning when they awoke to the presence of more than 200,000 foreign soldiers. For the long-time opponents to the Soviet Union it was final proof that at its core Moscow had always been tyrannical-willing to stop at nothing to exercise its will (Velinger,2003,p.1). A look at the event leading up to and also during the conflict will give insight to the before mentioned statements.
