“The Grapes of Wrath” The book “The Grapes of Wrath” tells the tragic tale of the Joad family and their part in the Great Dust Bowl migrations. It opens with Tom Joad, one of the novel’s main characters, making his way down a long road in sweltering heat shortly after being released form the state prison on parole. The same very heat that has plagued the farms to produce nothing other then withered crops. He is picked up by a semi-truck driver for a ride of short duration down the road’s distance. Upon reaching his general destination, Tom meets up with Jim Casey, a former preacher who had recently been drifting from location to location. As they walk the last few miles distance it soon becomes apparent to Tom that the Joad residence is now vacant. Luckily one of Tom’s neighbors wanders by and mentions that the Joads had been “tractored’ off of their land, but believes they may be found at Tom’s Uncle’s cabin. With this in mind, they make the journey to the cabin to reunite with the Joad family. They are greeted by the whole extended clan upon their arr......
