The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

This book is set in the town of St. Petersburg in Missouri. In the beginning of Huckleberry Finn, Huck is upset about his new life of chores, manners, church, and school. He sticks it out and does his best because Tom tells him that if he wants to be a part of his new “robbers’ gang” he has to be respectable. Everything is going good until one day Huck’s dad decides to come back into town and demand for Huck’s money. The judge Thatcher and the Widow try to get legal custody of Huck. The other judge of the town believes in Huck’s father and tries to make him a better person so he could have a chance at fathering his son. The judge’s efforts are a waist of time and Pap soon returns to his old ways. Pap stays around town for a while trying to get the money out of Huck. And one day Pap kidnaps Huck and holds him in a cabin across the river from St. Petersburg. Whenever Pap goes out, he locks Huck in the cabin, and when he returns home drunk, he beats him. Tired of being cooped up and scared of getting hurt, Huck escapes from the cabin by faking his own death! He kills a......
