Ancient Greece and Rome are commonly associated as similar classical civilizations. Both of these empires seemed to have shared comparable elements in their societies; however, a closer examination into two historic works reveal that these two magnificent civilizations might not have been as alike. Greeces characteristics will be based on Pericles Funeral Speech, while Romes characteristics will be based on Pliny the Youngers Correspondence With the Emperor. Analyzing these two works will assist in analyzing whether or not Greece and Rome should be spoke of as a unified classical period in western civilization.
