In the Story A Small, Good Thing Ann, Scottys mother, had many different effects of the accident. Prior to the accident Ann had went out to buy a birthday cake for Scotty, her son. She was just caring mother who was having a birthday party for her son. On Scottys birthday a car hit him. He had seemed to be all right at first but things just got worse. When Scotty went to the hospital the doctors had told Ann that Scotty was going to be fine and she didnt have to worry. Ann worried anyway about Scottys condition. Ann didnt want to leave his side even when the nurse encouraged her to go home to take a bath and eat. When Anns husband finally talked her into going home for a little while she couldnt keep Scotty off her mind. While at home she got a phone call saying you forgot about Scotty. That was all that the caller said and then he quickly hung up. She called the hospital to check on Scotty ......
