Julius Caesar, Character Brutus. Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Julius Caesar Brutus to Caesar seemed a loyal and honorable man and to be in no way a threat to Julius Caesar and his power however, this is precisely why the play is such a disaster. What came from these traits of Brutus became what no one would expect. Caesar’s shock to this was immense, that he could only say few words as he fell to his death “et tu Brutes?”. Brutus’s foolishness towards patriotism and loyalty led to the loss of democracy in Rome and, ultimately, his life. Honor can be clearly seen during the play’s dramatic speeches of Brutus’s. Making sure that it was clear that what he did, “he did for his love of Rome”. Brutus must assassinate Caesar to save Rome from, what he is led to believe, tyranny, greed, and power. He is torn between his desire to serve Rome and his love of Caesar. Brutus it seems lives for honor, in fact it becomes obvious that doing the honorable thing will override his own opinions.
