Against this, Margaret Atwood penned a dystopian novel, The Handmaids Tale - commonly lauded as a feminist 1984 in which she vehemently reacts to the growing political power of the American religious right, projecting a nightmarish future much to the tune of Orwells 1984 and Huxleys Brave New World.
