Nature vs. Nurture Today, nature vs. nurture is one of the most controversial debates of our society. People ask themselves if the reason we act the way we do is due to their nature (genetics) or nurture (the environment in which they were raised). Although I feel both factors play a role in making us who we are, I strongly hold nature more accountable. Gender takes a large role in the controversy of nature vs. nurture. Naturally, females and males are born as different beings. If not, everyone would be the same and there would be no such thing as gender. As far as nurture is concerned, it is society that helps to develop a person based on his or her gender. Society encourages women to be good at cooking and cleaning and being emotional while boys are encouraged to be tough and manly and aggressive. The nurture of a person is very based on gender and what he or she is "supposed" to be like. If nurture created our personalities, we would think and act the same.
