The battle of Saratoga in September and October 1777 was a decisive American victory resulting in the surrender of an entire British army invading Saratoga New York from Canada during the American Revolution (the battle of Saratoga). The battle of Saratoga was actually two battles (The Battle of Freemans Farm, and the Battle of Bemis Heights ).The Battle of Freemans farm occurred on September 17, 1777, and was on Freemans Farm near Saratoga New York. The second and final battle occurred on October 7, 1777. It occurred at an open field in a set of woods near Saratoga New York. The British general john Burgoyne surrendered his troops to American generals Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold near Saratoga New York. The battle of Saratoga, which was the turning point of the revolutionary war, had many political, economic, and social effects on the war.
