The Great Depression was a worldwide economic crisis beginning from 1929 until the late 1930s. The Great Depression affect many countries around the world such as, the United States, Germany, Great Britain, France, Canada, Australia, and Japan. Around the world, farmer and rural areas suffered as prices fro crops fell by 40-60%. Mining and lumbering areas were perhaps the hardest hit.... The economic cost of World War I deepened which helped the depression grow. War reparations needed to be paid, but with Germany not being able to pay it, the depression began to grow around the world.
There are many factors that helped cause the Great Depression in the United States. One of the causes is the stock market crash of 1929. Many people believe that it was the sole cause, but in fact, it was not. It was one of many. The stock market was in a bubble, ready to burst. Prices were far to high compared to the real economy.
