One of the most dominant political and military leaders in history, Gaius Julius Caesar helped establish the vast Roman Empire. Caesar's Victory in a civil war in the 40s BC made him the absolute ruler of Rome, but political jealousies among his opponents led to his assassination. Julius Caesar a Populare (Populare’s represented the people of Rome in opposition to the Optimates who were the traditionalist faction of the later Roman Republic) 1,one of the greatest military leaders of all time; this can be dictated through his many victories he famously won in command, an example is Caesars campaigns in Gaul, where he led three legions to victory in Cisalpine Gaul and Illyricum. (From 58–50 BC, he left the Gaul’s financially exhausted due to severe plundering. This enhanced Caesars reputation that later played a crucial role in Caesar seizing the Senate) 2.
