Every individual has to perform certain roles in the society. We all are actors taught to perform certain roles. Each role carries certain expectations and duties. Gender roles are the duties or expectations which a male or female has to fulfill. Certain roles are believed to be naturally fitted for males and certain for females. The society would not accept a male in a female role or a female in a male role. For example the typical male roles are army officers or trainees and female roles can be of a housewife or cooking etc. The society would never accept a female to go to the war-field and fight like the males do.
