Should troops have gone to Iraq?
This issue has caused a lot of controversy amongst most Australians. Should Australian troops have been sent to Iraq? Liberal supporters would strongly stand by the governments decision to lead us into a war with Iraq. Labour supporters would most likely oppose the decision.
The controversy all began in 2003 when John Howard declared we would, alongside Britain and America, send our troops to fight in Iraq. It isnt really certain why he did it but according to an interview he had it was to deprive Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction which are a direct undeniable and lethal threat to Australia. They did not however find any lethal weapons and had to admit so later on. In another interview John Howard said that another reason our troops were sent to Iraq was because the US did and the US provides long-term security for Australia. No we shouldnt. Even if the US did give us security, going into war has given us anything BUT security. It has only increased the risk or terrorist attacks on our country. Should we have really gone......
