Martha Ann Jones Professor Stafford English 101 – 26 September 24, 2007 When You Think It Couldn’t Happen To You “No,” I screamed as I was crying and tearing the hospital’s towels. My momma was dying after struggling with cancer for some years. She was finally giving up the good fight. I could over hear the doctors saying, “Do you want me to take her off the respirator?” “Yes,” my aunt replied. My mother was then moved to another part of the hospital. “Hey momma,” I said sadly as she lay in the hospital’s bed. She blinked, not being capable of moving a muscle. “Momma, I promised I will be somebody,” I said. She clutched my hand just as I looked up at the doctor and he pronounced my mother dead. Mother, the person who is always there for you no matter what happens. At least, that is how the story is suppose to be told. Can you imagine being diagnosed with breast cancer? How about seeing the breast cancer’s treatments change you physically? How do you deal with the aftermath of someone dying from breast cancer? My mother’s death was an incid......
