Believe it or not, a problem with eating disorders would have never been predicted (Karls 518). Weight and body image werent issues to women in the ancient times. Women were not worried about their body-image; they were worried about the health of their bodies. The progression from healthy bodies to attractive bodies has been gradual and has now hit an extreme. The desired body-image is shown in every aspect of life, from magazines and television, to family and friends. Not everyone is affected by this portray of the desired body image, but many are.
Adolescents seem to suffer the most with these disorders. They feel like they are obligated to impress, and are continually seeking independence and approval. Fitting in is the goal of every teenager. They tend to seek idols through media, and those idols that they seek most often portray the ideal body-image.
