Saint Joan The Girl Soldier is written by Louis De Wohl. It tells the story of how Jeanne dArc, also known as Joan of Arc, was told by St. Michael the Archangel, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret to lead the French in battle against the invading English.
This true story took place in France when the English and French were involved in the Hundred Years War. The main character, Joan of Arc, was born in Domremy. Her parents, Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle Romee, were farmers. Although they were a poor family, they were not needy or ungrateful. As a child, Joan was always involved in her church and was deeply devoted to God and prayer. When she is told by the Saints that she is meant to go and lead the French Army, Joan speaks to her parents about this revelation. At first, they are reluctant to let her go, especially Jacques dArc, her father. Isabelle Romee knows that she is meant to go and she cries at the thought of her leaving, but nevertheless, Joan leaves and walks to her cousins home.
