Depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods. But true clinical depression is a mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss, anger, or frustration interfere with everyday life for an extended time. (U.S. Library of Medicine, 2005) Depression affects millions of adults and children all around the world. Sometimes the symptoms are brushed off as everyday sadness that one may feel. Depression is categorized into three different parts: mild, moderate, and severe. In order for a person to find out if they are in a type of depression, one must seek medical help and then the doctor can see fit as to what ones body may need.
No one knows why depression occurs. Depression affects ones state of mind because of a chemical imbalance of the brain. These imbalances send the wrong type of chemicals to the brain and the nerves.
