In the Learning perspective, there are many ways to change, modify, or learn behavior. Some of these ways include operant conditioning, classical conditioning, latent learning, and many more. Though they are great ways to learn how behavior can be changed, they are sometimes unethical to use for reasons that society has made immoral and are seen as ethically contentious.
For example, in the 1920s two psychologists Watson and Rayner created an experiment under basic assumption of associationism (classical conditioning). The experiment included an 11-month-old boy named Albert. Now the psychologists wanted to see that if Albert would associate a loud, painful noise as fear from a white rat that would be placed near him. So every trial the experimenters would have the white rat and then once Albert touched it, a loud unexpected noise would cause Albert to jump and fall forward. After five times of Watson and Rayner placing the rat near Albert, the steel bar would make the horrible sound. In todays world, the government would not allow this type of experiment.
