Movie: China in Revolution- Battle for Survival 1911-1936 This documentary dealt with the lives of the Chinese people during the turbulent years from the fall of the last emperor to the establishment of the world's largest communist state that it is today. This film focused on the growing discontent with Imperial rule and the subsequent military revolt. It examined the rise of Chiang Kai-shek and the establishment of the Nationalist government in China as well as the birth of communism and the formation of the Red Army. The revolution started with the change in the social order set up by the Qing dynasty, which started to crumble with the pressures of the European traders and missionaries. China was ruled by the Qing dynasty until 1911 when the emperor was overthrown. The people revolted by cutting of their long hair ques, which was a symbol of respect and devotion towards the imperial power and with that the republic of china was declared.
