“A seven-year-old boy in Cahokia, Ill., is suspended for having a nail clipper at school. A 10th-grader at Surry County High School in Virginia is booted for having blue-dyed hair. A Minnesota high school nixes a yearbook photo of an Army enlistee in the senior class because it shows her sitting atop a cannon outside a Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Welcome to the American school after Columbine” (Cloud). On April 20, 1999, two boys committed the “worst high school shooting in American history,”(Massacre at Columbine High) until the recent Virgina Tech campus shooting. The horrific events at Columbine raised concerns all over America about the issues of gun control and violence in schools. “They were never part of the ‘Trench Coat Mafia.’ The didn’t target jocks, minorities or Christians. They had a hit list, but nobody on it was hit” (Cullen). Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were two less noticed school mates who together master-minded the Columbine epidemic. The two boys came from solid homes, they had a typical family with a mom and dad and both had an older brother. “......
