Power and the Elite
The upper class also known as the elite, have within their grasp the power to influence if not control political and economic forces in the lives of everyday Americans. Who are the elite and how do they gain this power? More importantly, how do they use it? These are the questions that I asked as I read Rothman and Shapiro to discover how economic power is translated into political influence. The answer come from studying what identifies the elite, how they socialize and how that affects other people in society.
By looking at what makes up the elite class, we can see how their influence easily becomes the mechanism for influence in the lives of average Americans. While most Americans dont give it any thought the elite have been born into families for generations that have the concentration of power and authority.
