Facial reconstructive surgery has been to a new level. With modern technology, surgeons have figured out a way to actually transplant faces. There are many possible positive results that come along with getting a facial transplant, but there is a chance that the body will reject the new face, which is why the process is very controversial. The positive outcomes are that the new face will enhance looks and also give psychological confidence to the recipient. Though there are many positive outcomes to having the transplant done, the negative outcomes seem to be more frequent. If the bodys immune system does not choose to accept the new face, it could result in long-term immunosuppression, graft rejection, and psychological harms such as an altered identity.
