A Wizard of Earthsea, an enchanting book, about a Gontish herder, Ged, who lives in the island community of Earthsea, where he one day, discovers he has unexplainable powers. While learning to become a mage, Ged creates many mistakes, including the Shadow he releases from the dark which hunts him throughout the book. As a young boy, Ged does not understand the power of listening but slowly begins to learn how listening guides him to become a wise wizard. Finally, as Ged becomes older and matures, he starts to learn how listening and observing in silence helps him win battles by knowing the enemys true name.
