The ethics and values that a person places on what they say and do is based off of what they feel they have a right to say and to do. Every individual is given the right of freedom of speech and that right is exercised to the fullest extent possible on the internet. All of the regulatory guidance we have pertaining to advertising, basically comes from past societal issues and problems which have lead to the laws that help govern these issues or problems in an attempt to induce some sort of compliance. We need these laws to govern transgressions, whereas in a perfect world there would be no transgressions, and where there are no transgressions, there is no need for law.
