The term eugenics was coined by English scientist Francis Galton in 1863; simply put it means well born, though Galton defined it as the study of human hereditary . Now the term is more frequently used to refer to the socio-political movement in the early twentieth century in which science advocated the institutionalising, sterilising, segregation and sometimes murder of certain dysgenic individuals. Eugenics took off all around the world for various reasons, two of the main advocates being Germany and America. The German Holocaust was one of the most horrific atrocities against human rights in the history of Western Civilisation, stemming from the Germans racial hygiene program which was based on eugenic ideology.
