Universal Message of Support in 'A Rose For Melinda' Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
It is always wonderful to have those you love there for you in a crisis, or in a time of need. They will be there for you until the end. This is referred to as a support system. According to the Canadian Concise Dictionary, the definition of support is to hold up, give strength or help to. This is the universal message examined in Lurlene McDaniels A Rose For Melinda. This message is shown through three stages of the mono-myth cycle: crossing the threshold, tests and the final battle.
Crossing the threshold shows the reader about the main character, Melinda Skye, and how she overcomes her first stage of leukemia. She could not have done it alone. She had the help, love and support of her friends, her family, and her loved ones. They showed her that they were positive through out her whole treatment. Dr. Powell gave us the results of my tests today. She told us whats wrong with me. I have leukemia, Jesse. I have cancer.
