Eating Disorders and Media Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In todays society we are bombarded by millions of advertisements that are filled with the image of perfection. With all of these advertisements that we are exposed to it is easy to conclude that we should strive to become that perfect image. This is more so true for young impressionable females ages 12-24 because there are many more ads that are targeted towards them. Advertisements are not the only form of media that are to blame for these incidents movies and television play a part as well. My paper focuses mainly on advertisements and magazines, and the images that young women are exposed to.
I began my research by doing a simple compare and contrast between the advertisements that both men and women in the age range 12-24 are exposed to. From the information that I gathered I found that both men and women in this age group are exposed to dieting and fitness ads. Each of those kinds of advertisements show the audience the image of the perfect body image and both males and females show some sort of response to the ads.
