In The Women of Brewster Place, each of the seven women had hopes and dreams, but most of the women did not have the means to fulfill their dreams. Etta Mae Johnson, for instance, was always on the quest for love, approval and a steady cash flow. Etta Mae searched high and low, from state to state, from one man to another to find what she was looking for. Brewster place is where her search ended. No one cries when a street dies
